Trochus Buttons
Luméa Trochus Shell Buttons are expertly produced from the spiralling, triangular shaped Trochus shell. A luminescent creamy colour, each blank is ground to specific sizes and thicknesses. Trochus buttons and blanks can be made with or without the white and pink skin on the back side – a key characteristic of this material.

Blank (Semi-Processed)
Luméa Shell Blanks are produced by experienced craftspeople, who are experts at navigating around the spiraling cone shaped shell. Trochus shell have three technical terms which identify the area from which the blank is cut – Yoko, Mimi and Ten. The top and/or bottom is ground down to specified thicknesses and the pink and white skin can be left on, or removed creating a beautiful natural product with strong iridescence.
Finished Shell Button
Luméa Finished Shell Buttons are produced by experienced button finishers using state of the art machines, to size, drill, shape and polish the buttons. Buttons can be crafted to your specific design requirements, and engraved. All finished buttons will have a polished, luminescent finish making a luxurious natural embellishment for your textile designs.
Uses
Shell blanks are used by button finishers, whose expertise is in the fine art of finishing the shell button. Blanks can be made to your specific size and thickness requirements.
With creamy white iridescence, this button is commonly used to add a sense of luxury to high end clothing and accessories. It has a completely organic finish, where the natural pearl essence will show different colours in changing lights. A versatile accompaniment to any coloured fabric with its neutral tones.
